Magarra Gallery showcases paintings and carvings, presented in both traditional and modern art styles from a range of local Murri (name used for aboriginal people of Queensland) Rainforest artists who have become known as the Rainforest Art Movement.

Their style of art is colourful, bright, and quite distinctive from other art styles as it utilizes distinctive rainforest motifs and designs.

I was born and raised on the Atherton Tablelands, and I am a descendant of the Dyirrbal (Jirrbal) and Ngadjan aboriginal rainforest groups of the Atherton Tablelands, Far North Queensland, Australi

Margaret was born in 1961 in the small cane town of Gordonvale,and is a descendant of the Dyirrbal (Jirrbal), and Ngadjan tribes, Rainforest aboriginal groups  of the Atherton

Eva Wanganeen was born in 1952 and is a descendent of the Arrente and Kokatha people.

Michael Go Sam ( Binda Mabudja meaning Waterfall Crocodile) was born in 1954 in Atherton, and is a descendant of the Dyirrbal (Jirrbal) and Ngadjan rainforest  tribal groups in Far North Queen

Brian Madsen " Matu"

Brian is a local indigenous artist and paints under his tribal name of “Matu”.

Dennis Turpin

Dennis is a local indigenous artist of the Atherton Tablelands, and a descendant of the Mbabaram, Yidinjii  and Kuku Thaypan aboriginal groups in Far North Queensland.
