Binda Mabudja

Michael Go Sam ( Binda Mabudja meaning Waterfall Crocodile) was born in 1954 in Atherton, and is a descendant of the Dyirrbal (Jirrbal) and Ngadjan rainforest  tribal groups in Far North Queensland. Michael was raised on the Atherton Tablelands and at Silver Valley, near Herberton.

Michael first became interested in carving and painting in 1995, when his son asked him to carve and paint his totem, the Crocodile, onto the Didgeridoo.

His skill as a master craftman is not with the use of the power tools but with a chisel when creating his work. Michael makes small natural boomerangs made from the hardwood,  Hairy Oak.

Michael only creates his works as a hobby now, and most of his artwork and Didgeridoos are held in private collections all over the world
